Cresskill, NJ: On Saturday, June 22nd, members of RD Legal Funding will participate in the 5th Annual Walk for Team Walker to support the organization’s mission of helping the youth of Jersey City. The walk will take place along the Hudson River in Jersey City with views of the Manhattan skyline. The distance is approximately 2 miles with accessibility for those in wheelchairs and strollers. RD Legal Funding also participated in last year’s walk and is honored to continue its support of the organization. “Team Walker has proven itself to be an organization dedicated to the youth of Jersey City,” says Joseph Genovesi, Senior Vice President of RD Legal Funding. “We are proud to continue helping them achieve their goals of providing the children a positive outlet to express themselves,” says Genovesi.
Team Walker was started in 1996 by Jersey City native Jerry Walker who wanted to give back to the children in his community. After his academic and basketball career at Seton Hall University and in Europe, Jerry returned to Jersey City determined to give back, and the concept of Team Walker was born. Team Walker and Jerry Walker received praise from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie labeling Walker a NJ Hero. Leo Zatta, Chief Financial Officer of RD Legal Capital and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Team Walker, had this to say: “I am proud to continue my association with the Team Walker Organization. Team Walker’s dedication to the youth of Jersey City has been extraordinary and I know with continued support, it will be a shining example for the Jersey City community.”
The event is being held before the anticipated opening of the Team Walker Learning Center in the summer of 2013. After the walk, the area will be filled with activities like face painting, live music, and balloon twisting. Local entertainers and musicians are expected to attend as well as mascots from local sports teams. Meesha Chandarana, Associate of Marketing and Client Services for RD Legal Capital, played a major role organizing the company’s involvement in the walk. “I love Team Walker’s mission providing the youth of Jersey City with a constructive place for academic enrichment, athletic recreation, and programs for the arts. I am proud to help them in any way I can,” says Chandarana.
People can also donate to Team Walker if they choose. Participants are expected to meet at Exchange Place in Jersey City on Saturday, June 22nd at 9 a.m.
